Ring Ceremony

Mar 21 2012

On Sunday, the 2011 Frederick Keys were honored at Ed Smith Stadium before the O’s took on the Yankees (a game the Orioles won 6-3) for their Mills Cup Championship (Carolina League Champions).  We were also all presented with our championship rings, which is something we will always have to remind us of our great season last year.  I have attached some pictures from the ceremony as well as the ring.   You can click on each picture to enlarge it.  (Special thanks to Bob & Jean Jennings for providing these pictures, as well as to Don and Bev Zollman who also came to the game.)

On an unrelated note, we have played 7 games so far in Spring Training (3 against the Rays, 2 against the Red Sox, and 2 against the Twins).  So far I have alternated playing left and right field.  Official stats are not kept of the minor league games but I have been holding my own so far, a few hits and a couple of RBI’s.  The main thing I am focusing on right now is getting my timing back so that I can feel comfortable and see the ball every at-bat.

Back to the Swing of Things

Mar 3 2012

I am happy to report I am back in Sarasota for Spring Training 2012.  I have been down here the past few days, a little earlier than we have to report.  I have been able to work out with a few other guys who are also here early.  We have light workouts in the morning/early afternoon and then have the rest of the day to enjoy the great weather down here in Florida.  Our first game down here is scheduled for March 14 so I will be sure to update the website on how everything is going.

Rain Date

Nov 22 2011
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
Unfortunately I have some bad news, due to the large amount of rain we have already received and the forecast for more this afternoon our field is going to be unplayable tomorrow for the scheduled Providence baseball camp.  Therefore, we will be using our rain date of Friday, November 25 at the same time, 12 to 3 pm.  The good news is that we have an absolutely beautiful day to look forward to on Friday!
We apologize if this is going to cause any scheduling conflicts but we cannot control the weather and are doing our best to work around it.  We still hope to see everyone there as we already have over 40 kids registered for the camp and are expecting close to 50!  It is going to be a great day of baseball!
If you have any questions please feel free to contact us via email or by phone.
