Finishing Up the Season

Aug 26 2011

There are 10 games left in the regular season.  This summer really has flown by, it seems like just yesterday I was leaving home to drive down to Florida for Spring Training.  We are in Greensboro, NC right now for 5 games and then have a day off before finishing up with 5 games at home in Salisbury, MD.  We arrived to Greensboro at about 7 am this morning after a weather delay in the 4th inning last night caused our game to last even longer.  Once we were on the road we were forced to take a detour that added more time to our trip.  This is the last road trip of the season though so everyone is used to the late nights and long bus rides that make up the season.  On a positive note, I did hit my 9th home run of the season last night, my first one for Delmarva, and just missed another one in my last at-bat when I hit a double off the fence in left-center field.

End of a Road Trip

Jul 20 2011

Tonight we are playing the final game of an 8 day road trip.  We started in Wilmington, DE where we won 3 out of 4 games against the Blue Rocks.  I had my 8th homerun of the season while we were there.  We had quite a bit of entertainment the last couple days there as the “Cowboy Monkey Rodeo” was in town for two nights.  I have posted a clip from YouTube below, but basically there are monkeys that ride on sheep dogs (they aren’t strapped down, they actually hold on to a saddle), as the dogs herd up 4 goats.

After playing Saturday night we got on the bus around 10 pm and arrived in Salem, VA around 4 am Sunday morning.  We then had to get up and play at 4 that afternoon, it was a long night but we were able to pull out a 5-3 win.  We also won Monday and Tuesday and now have the final game tonight against the Red Sox.  Since this is the last day in Salem we are leaving after the game but we had to check out of our hotel rooms this morning so the majority of the team is in …read more»

4th of July

Jul 5 2011

I hope everyone had a great holiday and got to enjoy some fireworks.  We returned from Kinston, NC at about 4:30 this morning after playing last night.  We had a day off today after we lost a close game last night, but went 4-2 on our road trip overall.  I had a decent road trip hitting two homeruns, one in Lynchburg and one in Kinston.  Yesterday we faced a college teammate of mine from Spalding, last year he struck me out but I hit a homerun off him yesterday so it evened out.  We play again tomorrow in the first game of a six game home stand.
